The celebration of the Libras in my family continued with dinner at Barbuto last night. My sister is way more up on her celebrity chef knowledge than me, and suggested this Jonathan Waxman restaurant in the Meatpacking district. It was absolutely perfect: delicious food in a lovely yet laid back setting with no pretension. Our party of 5 shared the family-style tasting menu.

Everything was absolutely delicious. I forgot to take a picture of the pasta course, but they brought out a risotto with butternut squash, delicata squash, and mushrooms along with a rosemary potato gnocchi dish that was also just lovely. One of my favorite things about Italian cooking is the way the ingredients shine, and this meal was a fabulous example of that. I definitely hope to make it back in the very near future!
