Hope you’ve all had a wonderful day! So far so good over here. Today was one of my favorite Christmases in a while. We spent Christmas Eve with my dad’s side of the family and Christmas Day with my mom’s family, as per usual. Last year I was in Boston, so it was nice not to have to go far this time. I’m still pretty spent from finals et al.

Uncle Tom definitely enjoyed the food & wine.

Last night was a lot of fun because all the “kids” were in one place, which hasn’t happened in a while. The food was awesome, of course, and I feel like I spent the whole night laughing. My family always exchanges a few small gifts on Christmas Eve, and because my dad is obsessed with TV, Chris and I gave him a giant remote.

Christmas morning was pretty quiet. After opening gifts and having breakfast, we went to go visit my grandfather at the nursing home where he lives.  It made me sad that he basically had no idea who we were and kept asking where we were from, but it was still nice to see him. I don’t get out there enough. Fortunately, there was a house full of relatives to distract me—and more cute dogs.

Again, the food was delicious. I filled my appetizer plate with some antipasti, greens, and burrata. I did zero cooking, but at dinner, I really enjoyed the lentil loaf, salad, truffled potatoes and roasted veggies. The Buche de Noel served for dessert was also pretty cool. Since I was sick most of the holiday season, I didn’t (get to) spend all of December eating/dodging sweets, so I was more than happy to try a slice.

Wish me smooth travels for tomorrow—we’re planning to go see Chris’ family for a few days, and I am freaking the f*ck out about the blizzard alerts in the northeast. Working out holiday travel plans can be really stressful (especially for anxiety-prone types like me), but it’s usually worth it in the end.

Looking forward to these!
