Happy Monday! How was your weekend? I’m so happy to be back in NYC after so much traveling in the past few months. I may have tried to pack to much into one weekend, catching up with friends over drinks, music, and karaoke in Brooklyn and then going to a friend’s play last night (Cyclops is playing through Wednesday at the 47th Street Theater—check it out if you’re around and looking for something different), but it’s been worth the lack of sleep.

Today I’m celebrating the birthdays of my dad and sister, two lovely Libras. I can’t blog about it yet, though, because what we’re doing is a surprise, though I wouldn’t be shocked if my dad’s already figured it out.

To start off on the right foot, I made a really nice breakfast—pumpkin oatmeal with molasses, peanut butter, roasted figs, and granola. Until I meet up with my folks, the rest of the day is going to involve either yoga or a walk (likely yoga, since I haven’t gone to a class in a month and need a good stretch), and working on a short story. After wrapping up a project, I need a break  today.

Sundays are a time when a lot of people prepare to get back into the swing of the workweek. It’s a great time for cooking and prepping food. This week, my post on escarole with garlic and hot pepper is the featured post on Trufflehead. It’s a super-simple, satisfying recipe that comes together in a flash. Enjoy!

What did you do this weekend?
