So back when I was laid up with laryngitis in January, I stumbled upon an article in the New York Times travel section that just happened to mention the 2015 World Expo in Milan. This year, the focus of the event is “Feeding the Planet: Energy for Life.” I was struck with this intense longing to travel there. Maybe it’s this Return of Saturn madness and a newfound enthusiasm for looking for continuing education opportunities that can double as travel excursions, but the map of the city that accompanied the article was actually the image that inspired me to make a vision board for this year (after having forgotten to make one last year). I ended up making two vision boards, but the one with Milan on it looked (in part) like this:

Sorry, I totally cut off  the bottom because some stuff needs to stay private…

Anyway, Sunday night, I actually booked the trip. I woke up a few times in the night thinking, “Oh my god, I’m crazy—taking a 9-hour flight—I need to bring stuff to read! Should I ask my doctor for a sleeping pill rx? And what if I get a DVT? What if I forget my passport? What shoes should I bring? Should I attempt to carry on my bag or check one?”

Yep, leave it to me to worry more about nuts-and-bolts stuff (months in advance, by the way) than, like, flying across an ocean or the fact that I’ll be traveling to a foreign country by myself.

Anyway, speaking of feeding the planet, I wanted to share this neat Infographic about US farming from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

US Farming 101

It’s interesting to learn about where our food comes from and what we can do to support the growth of a healthy (healthier?) food system.

Have a great day!

Have you ever taken a solo trip to another country? Any suggestions on what I should see and do in Milan?
