I know that I talk about various types of self-care on here (diet, exercise, journaling…), but one I sometimes forget about in my own life is beauty. My routine has been essentially the same since I was 16: eyebrow gel to keep that situation under a control, a swipe of liquid black eyeliner, black mascara, maybe a little shimmer on the eyelid, and a smear of red lipstick. Concealer if needed or if I remember.

It’s only in the last five years that I’ve started adding a drop of BB Creme to my moisturizer and blush, and it was only this January that I finally began penciling in my eyebrows. Why did I wait so long?! It makes such a difference!

Feeling confident in your appearance and comfortable in your skin are super-important for feeling your best overall, and using high-quality products you love can help you feel cared for. I’ve been really curious to learn more about eco-friendly beauty products in recent years, and I was lucky enough to connect with Lisa Davis at the Lady Project Summit in March. Lisa is an advocate for Crunchi, and she has a super-fun giveaway for you guys today!

Lisa is a wife, mom of three, and Crunchi Advocate. To fuel her love of tennis, pilates and yoga, she makes it a priority to eat a healthy, balanced diet and loves to teach others how to choose safe, nontoxic personal care products. She adds, “I love meeting new people, trying new things, and most of all…travel.”

Here, she answers some of my questions about Crunchi, her favorite products, and spring beauty trends.

At the end of the post, you’ll find details about how to enter the giveaway and how to try Crunchi for yourself!

-What attracted you to Crunchi and made you want to work with them?

Crunchi is a revolutionary collection of cosmetics crafted with a combination of safe, certified organic and EcoCert ingredients. Crunchi is dedicated to educating consumers about the potentially harmful effects of cosmetic toxins, and in the process, providing the best, highest-performing alternatives. We are giving beauty a new meaning.

The story of the founders of Crunchi really resonated with me. Crunchi was started by two young moms who had switched over all of their personal care and cleaning products to great nontoxic options, but simply couldn’t find nontoxic makeup that performed beautifully.  They became so frustrated, they decided to create their own line of high-performing, toxin-free makeup. I myself had gone through the same journey but couldn’t let go of my toxic makeup because I loved how well it worked. When I found Crunchi, I knew that I had found something really special, and I also knew that I wanted to share it with other women.

-Why are toxin-free, organic makeup products something we should pay attention to?

It’s not just what we eat, it’s also important to pay attention to what we put on our bodies and on our skin. The skin absorbs from 60 to 100% of everything we put on it. The body is designed to detoxify itself, but it was not designed to handle the heavy chemical body burden placed on it because of all the products we use and all the harmful chemicals found in those products. Lifetime exposure to harmful chemicals found in makeup, such as parabens, fragrance, and lead, has been shown to be harmful to our health, and greatly increases our risk of developing diseases. We can greatly reduce our exposure to these toxic chemicals by switching our makeup to a safer option. As women, we shouldn’t have to sacrifice our health for our beauty or our beauty for our health.

-How do you feel cosmetics can play a role in self-care?

I believe in beauty from the inside out. It’s ideal to eat right, exercise, and to look your best. A little mascara and lipgloss can enhance your self confidence and your appearance at the same time! Crunchi makeup gives a beautiful, natural look. It’s the makeup that is designed for women who really don’t wear much makeup at all, or who don’t like how typical makeup looks or feels on their face, but want to look put together.

-For someone who’s just getting into using cosmetics, what essentials should they have on hand to create a basic go-to look?

Great question. If you’re just starting to use make up, you will want to keep it simple and streamlined. Too many choices can be paralyzing!  I have a 3-minute face and an 8-minute face.

If I’m racing to get out the door, or just want a minimal look, for my 3-minute Face, I will use primer, concealer, powder, a simple wash of eyecolor, mascara, a light blush, a little highlighter, and lipgloss.

If I have a little more time and I want a more put together look or a date night look, I will opt for my 8-minute face. I will use primer, foundation, concealer, translucent powder, bronzer, blush, 2-3 eyeshadows, highlighter, mascara, lipstick and lipgloss. The colors and products are all build-able and pigmented, so that a little goes a long way, and you can either use a very light touch or apply more for more coverage.

-What are some of your most popular products?

Definitely our foundation, primer, concealer, and flat top foundation brush. Those are literally life-changing products. Also our lip glosses are incredibly popular!

-What are some of your favorite products?

It’s hard to choose, but my favorites are the primer, foundation, flat top foundation brush, and lip glosses.

-What are some makeup trends you’re most excited about for spring?

I really love the “no makeup” look, which is what I described in the 3-minute face above. The other trend that I’m loving is a bold pink lip for spring. Fierce is perfect! The no makeup look described above is the perfect day look. For a great evening look, I would go with the 8-minute face, and swap out the light lipgloss for the on-trend Fierce lipstick. I would add in Allure  eyeshadow and bronzer for contouring!

And now for the fun part! The giveaway!

One lucky winner will receive a Crunchi lipgloss and a bronzer in the color of their choosing. To enter, all you have to do is click in the box below.
