I blabbed all about how much I love tea last week so today I want to share some other stuff I’ve been loving lately.

For My Mind

Podcasts:
The Great Love Debate with Brian Howie. I’m way late to the game on this one but have been binge-listening all month.
-Jenna Kutcher’s Goal Digger Podcast— I have listened to quite a few business podcasts, and I have been absolutely loving this one lately. There’s plenty of biz talk but lots of fun life stuff as well.

Books:
The Chemistry of Calm: A Powerful, Drug-Free Plan to Quiet Your Fears and Overcome Your Anxiety by Henry Emmons, MD offers a really interesting holistic approach to anxiety management. While I wouldn’t say I’ve learned anything new, given that I’ve been working with my clients and patients on this for years, I really have enjoyed reading about the case studies and hearing about how a doctor uses the research to treat his patients.

How to Change Your Mind: What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression, and Transcendence by Michael Pollan has been on my wishlist since it came out, and I was so excited when it came in for me at the NYPL. I just love his writing style, and the topic is intriguing.
Rich People Problems: A Novel (Crazy Rich Asians Trilogy) — This trilogy by Kevin Kwan has been getting me through the summer. I love books that can make me laugh out loud. I’ll be so sad when I’m done with this last one.

For My Body

Food and Drink:

-I think it’s the change in the light, but I have noticed myself craving fall flavors. For example, I got bit by the pumpkin bug & have been enjoying pumpkin purée in my yogurt. I also can’t wait to make this dairy-free mac & cheese. I want to try it with spaghetti squash or cauliflower instead of pasta since I’ve been getting a lot of requests for low-carb twists.

-I’ve also been eating  a lot of hummus omelets for breakfast (still) with this herbed tomato and cucumber salad on the side. On mornings I need extra staying power, I’ve been adding avocado to the salad.

-I still make a frittata at least once a week to make my corporate wellness days easier, and lately I’ve been adding tomato and zucchini as my veggies because summer’s not going to last forever! I was originally inspired by this recipe from How Sweet Eats but didn’t want to do to the store to buy milk.

-Trader Joe’s Organic Cold Brew Concentrate has been my go-to all summer. Saving me tons of money and time.

-I kind of wanted to hate Truly’s Spiked & Sparkling spiked seltzers, but after enjoying some samples, I changed my mind. While nothing compares to my go-to bourbon or sparkling wine, I like that these are a portable, 100-calorie option.

Fitness:

-I’m still enjoying lots of walking in addition to my usual routine of yoga and Pilates. While we were are the beach, my sister, our friend/other sister Mel, and I tried a TRX class at a local studio and oh. my. goodness. Seriously, we were all sore for days after.

For My Spirit

-Journaling has been saving my sanity lately. I was recently interviewed on my morning routine in this minbodygreen story, and I talk about how morning pages has been part of my life in some way, shape, or form since I was a little kid. I used to get in trouble in grade school for writing during class, and in high school, I legit almost flunked AP English because I was way more interested in decluttering my brain first thing in the morning than the assigned reading.

-Daily meditation has been a lot easier to get in using an app. I’ve been doing about 20 minutes a day. I fully admit, sometimes I fall asleep but I tell myself that some of it gets in there anyway…

-Time with friends and family has been a highlight of the summer, for sure. I’ve also been loving the quality time with all the fur children.
