Happy weekend, everyone. I’m off to the GNYDA Dietetic Internship Fair today, but before I dash out the door, I wanted to share this article from a website that focuses on ingredients and supplements. It’s about a recent study on fortified beverages and their improved nutrient-to-calorie ratio.

I find food science fascinating and do not think fortified products are inherently evil, but very often, manufacturers pump nutrients into products to justify cost and shed the “junk food” aura. Though the drinks this article mentions are lower in calories than, say, juice, I still wouldn’t feel great about recommending that a client drink a fortified beverage rather than eat a real orange.

I think stuff like this is good to know but you need to consider the source.
