Good morning and Happy New Year! Hope your 2016 is off to a fantastic start. I love the optimism of January 1st. I’m a big fan of starting the year off with a day that reflects, in whatever big or small ways, some of what you hope to see in the coming 12 months. For example, I love including plenty of green foods on New Years Day to symbolize health and money.

avo and egg toast and saladIf you woke up today with a little 2015 hangover (totally been there), make sure to drink plenty of water and eat potassium-rich foods like bananas, tomatoes, leafy greens, avocado, and sweet potatoes to rebalance. Eggs are another of my favorite reset-button foods. And hey—they symbolize fertility in lots of cultures, so if you’re hoping for a prolific year (or you know, like, a baby), how about whipping up some avocado toast with an egg on top? Since you also deplete your B-vitamins when you booze up, you could also try a bowl of oatmeal with some blood sugar-stabilizing cinnamon.

If you’re not feeling ready for solid food, sip some coconut water and then when you’re ready, check out my coffee smoothie recipe to help you wake up and replenish.

Cheers to a great 2016!
