So, I managed to cat-nap through the rapture. When I came to around 6:10, I was glad the world was still here, as I had plans to celebrate a friend’s birthday at Numero 28, a pizzeria in the east village (there are two other NYC locations). While pizza is not really part of my day-to-day existence, I do love the occasional thin-crust slice—with wine, course. I remember being told that in Italy, it’s considered a rookie move to pair wine  (instead of beer) with pizza, but hey, I like what I like.

Last night, we shared several varieties. I remember a margherita pizza, a mushroom pie (with truffle oil!), and one that had buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and basil. There was also bruschetta and salad to go around, plus red wine.

the mushroom pizza was my favorite

After dinner, we walked over to Beauty Bar for drinks and dancing. When we got there, the door guy was trying to talk to two women about John Berger’s Ways of Seeing and the “why” of art—I felt like I was back in my college honors symposium! I would love to know what had started that conversation. I ended up heading home a little early due to busy-day sleepiness (if you consider midnight early). I’d forgotten how much I like that space, though—I’m kind of a sucker for kitschy decor.

Speaking of busy days, I’m spending the rest of today going to open houses and then to an Elvis Costello show later. I was able to work it out to go tonight after Wednesday’s performance was canceled. Can’t wait!

Enjoy your Sunday!
