October has been a really intense month full of changes. As I was talking about over on Instagram the other day, I know I’ve been dealing with my own stuff, but I also feel like so many of my clients, colleagues, friends, family, and neighbors are all facing some big-ass changes. Some of it’s good, some of it is more along the lines of, “WTF, universe?” but it all impacts our physical, mental, and emotional health. So many of my coaching sessions recently have come back to stress management and grounding techniques to help prevent slipping into unhealthy coping mechanisms or getting thrown off course with our healthy eating and fitness routines.

It is so easy to get swept up in the mindset of, “Oh, when this phase/project/issue is done, then I can eat better/work out/make time for self-care,” but have you ever noticed that once one issue is resolved, another thing crops up? Building a toolbox of things that help you keep it together can make your life so much easier in the long run that simply waiting for things to become perfect. Writing is such a big part of my work because it’s a way for me to share some of those tools. I may not be able to fix the big problems, but if I can help someone have a better week by knowing what to, like, have or breakfast or keep their freezer stocked with to simplify cooking, that’s a win. There’s a ton of information (and misinformation) out there on the internet about what’s healthy, so I try to make my little contribution to offer some approachable, evidence-based info and tips that also help solve the “how” piece of the healthy living picture. since that’s really where so many of us struggle.

Speaking of, if you’re looking for a satisfying  grounding breakfast,  my Basic Pumpkin Oatmeal is a great way to start your morning on a balanced note, thanks to the combo of complex carbs, protein, and healthy fats.
