The other night, Chris and I went out with my parents for dinner at Patsy’s. A classic New York restaurant, Patsy’s offers delicious Italian cuisine that’s kept customers coming back since 1944. They also have recipes, a cookbook, and products such as sauces for sale online.

We started with a roasted vegetable antipasto, which came with asparagus, several kinds of roasted peppers, olives, and onions, along with what looked like mozzarella. There was also a stuffed artichoke that I tried a piece of. I’m still learning how to approach artichokes…

Patsy’s is especially famous for their sauces, and I have to say that after sampling their stuffed calamari in marinara sauce, I can see why. The calamari were stuffed with a mix of shrimp, crab and lobster. I have to admit, I could have done without the stuffing—a bit too “fishy,” even for me—but the calamari itself was delicious and the sauce was so good, I could have had it by itself!

Research suggests that when you dine with a slim friend who chows down, you’re more likely to follow their lead than if that companion were overweight, and well, I have to admit I can be a bad influence when it comes to dessert. I always like to leave a little room, and I definitely ordered up a giant piece of chocolate mousse cake for us to share.

If you find yourself in New York’s theater district in the near future, you should stop in and have a glass of wine for me! Writing this post makes me wish I had fancy dinner plans instead of class tonight!
