Happy Saturday! Hope your weekend is off to a good start. Here in NYC, we’ve been enjoying some beautiful weather. About damn time. I celebrated the beginning of a few days off with my sister at Cafe Jolie in Hells Kitchen with my sister. One of these days, I’ll have to try the crepes, but on a sunny spring day, nothing hits the spot like frozen yogurt with rainbow sprinkles—totally unnecessary and not even remotely nutritious, but totally delicious.

Then we went back to my apartment to hang out and start the prep work for a little dinner gathering I’m having tonight. One day, I’d love to have a big kitchen with an island in the middle where I can relax and talk with people while cooking together—that’s always been one of my favorite things to do. I think it’s going to be good. When Chris got home from an event last night, he said I had an “aura of fogginess” (he’s been hanging out with me too long!) and gave me a melatonin to help me sleep off the cold and/or allergies that were trying to close in on me. This time of year I usually take Zyrtec too, and I’m planning to get a Neti Pot.

I felt quite a bit better when I woke up, if a little stuffy, but a hot yoga class seems to have helped me sweat out a lot of whatever’s gnawing at my metaphorical ankle. Hopefully this feeling better trend will continue. Time for a few errands and more prep.

Enjoy your weekend!

PS—I know it’s been a while since I talked about the proposed ban on food stamp purchases of soda, and this morning I finally read a few follow-ups. Click here to see more about just how unhappy Big Soda is about Bloomberg’s Food Stamp Soda ban. Not surprising. I still support it. Soda is not food, and I really don’t buy the argument of not wanting to stigmatize the poor. Personally, I believe the benefits of allotting food stamp dollars for nutritious, real food that actually nourishes the body outweighs that particular negative.
