Happy Thursday! Hope you’re having a great week! Can you believe we’re already into the second half of May? That means we’re almost at the halfway mark of 2016.

With one foot in the second half of the year and one in the half we’re about to move on from, this is a great time of year to take stock and check in with yourself about your New Year’s resolutions—if you made any, that is. What’s working? What not? Are these things still important to you? Have other things become more important? Remember, it’s okay to change your mind and tweak your goals as you go.
Here were the things I laid out as my 2016 goals:
- Update my resume, social media profiles, “about me” pages, and bios to most accurately reflect who I am and what I do
- SEO and design tune-up
- Continue to expand my professional network
- More dinner parties
- Celebrate the little things more
I’ve been doing great with updating my professional profiles and networking, but the tech stuff? Not so much. I did find out, though, that I was really hungry for some business courses and even toyed with the idea of going for an MBA. After a lot of soul-searching over the past year (past six months, especially) I’ve decided to enroll in an online health coaching program with a heavy focus on business. I’d been trying to make my own “curriculum” on Pinterest boards to teach myself the skills I lack, but I finally admitted that I would benefit from some structure and guidance—not easy things for a Sagittarius to say.
As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve been reading Arianna Huffington’s Thrive, and it’s exactly what I needed to read this month. Some months I’ve done great with making time for fun, and others have been more difficult. My time management has certainly improved as I’ve taken on more projects and needed to budget and plan ahead. I’ve certainly gotten better at staying on task when I work from home, but I still struggle with taking a real lunch break away from the computer.
For the rest of 2016, I’m making it my goal to eat lunch sitting at the table on my work-from-home days. Why wait until January 1st to make a resolution?
