I have no idea what came over me last week when I decided to try this, but I think I’ve found a new staple.
I’ve long been a fan of cottage cheese in oatmeal, and I even put it in omelets sometimes, but until recently, I’d never eaten it on toast or bread.
So yeah. I know this is old news to a lot of you guys who have been eating it this way for years, but if you haven’t tried it, give it a shot!
Aside from being creamy and delicious, cottage cheese is high in protein and relatively low in fat and calories (a half-cup will give you 16 grams of protein, about 90 calories, and around 1 or 2 grams of fat, unless you buy fat-free). My current favorite brand is Friendship’s 1% No Salt Added cottage cheese, since it’s so easy to make sweet or savory.
