Happy What I Ate Wednesday. Hope you’re having a great week! I was supposed to have just gotten back from South Carolina, but storms down south caused me to change my travel plans. It ended up being for the best, though. I had really been needing a weekend to recharge. I’m scheduled to work every weekend at the hospital for at least the next 6 weeks, so I’m working on making downtime where I can, even if it’s not the standard Saturday-Sunday.

If it seems like I’ve been talking a lot about work-life balance stuff, it’s because I’ve had such topics on the brain as I prepare for a workshop I’m giving June 12th in conjunction with The Lady Project and Physique57. After a fitness class, we’ll be enjoying some healthy snacks from sponsors such as Siggi’s and Larabar and talking about self-care for entrepreneurs. If you’re in the NYC area, you should come check it out. Just a heads-up—space is limited, so get your tickets ASAP.

On this blog, I try to share ways I practice what I preach and how I learn from my mistakes. This weekend was an example of me being mindful not to rush and fill my agenda with extra work and obligations just because I stayed local. I did take advantage of the ghost-town vibe to spend some time writing/editing in my favorite coffee shops, but I also went to yoga and pilates and did a little shopping. I also did some touristy social stuff. I also spent Saturday and some of Sunday with the fam, fur children included.

Eli and I both slept like champs on Saturday night. A happy dog sleeping next to you in a comfy bed is the best therapy ever. I totally don’t care if I sound like a crazy dog lady.

As far as food goes, I enjoyed a really tasty weekend. The heat had me craving a lot of colder foods—it actually felt like summer. Here’s what I ate on Memorial Day, the unofficial start of summer.

Breakfast: Secret-Ingredient Green Smoothie

Lunch: Burger Salad

Lunch Dessert: Berries with honey lavender fromage blanc from Nettle Meadow Farm

Snack: A glass of wine at Kashkaval Garden after an afternoon at the MoMA while plotting dinner.

Dinner: I hit up the sushi area at Gotham West Market. This uma bowl (kale with tuna, sesame, carrot, cucumber, zucchini, apple, and ponzu dressing) rocked my world. If mercury toxicity were not a thing, I could probably eat this every day.

Snack: Greek yogurt with coconut flour and a crumbled coconut flour chocolate muffin on top—was so hungry after so much walking around. (not pictured)

Next Wednesday, I’ve got a fun giveaway for you, so stay tuned!
