Happy Fourth of July! This year the holiday also happens to fall on a Wednesday. For those of you in the States, hope you’re enjoying a lovely celebration, whether that involves a cookout, watching the fireworks with your nearest and dearest, or I don’t know, watching 1776 in your air-conditioned living room.

So I guess WIAW is officially “retirement age.” Kind of crazy…  As always, thanks to Jenn for hosting the link party. To see more WIAW from other bloggers, visit Peas & Crayons.

In the spirit of this month’s theme, “Fun, Food & Fitness,” I kicked Monday off with some living room yoga and a spottily playlist that included artists such as M. Ward, The Pixies, The White Stripes, Bob Dylan, and Spoon, among others. I’m not someone who really needs flutes or chanting to get in the zone.

Here’s how the day looked in terms of food…

Breakfast: Steel-cut oats w/ chia, flax, chopped apple, dried fruit & PB

Snack: (unpictured) cucumber slices, dry roasted edamame

Lunch: veggie chili w/ cheddar cheese, salad, an orange

Snack: green smoothie

Added a little too much ice…

Dinner: smoked salmon & avocado on an ezekiel english muffin, side salad (I seem to be having this a lot on Mondays)

Snack: yogurt w/ berries & a crumbled up cookie—very ugly but good

It’s funny—some days are super-routine and then others are more spontaneous. For example, Tuesday  involved a morning walk-through-the-park commute to work and then later, a cheese-and-bread-esque picnic dinner, also in the park. For me, it’s all about keeping things interesting.

How are you spending your Fourth of July? What’s the best thing you’ve eaten lately?
