Seriously, I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already. I took Monday off so I’d be able to stay one more night in Newport and not rush getting back to NYC. Since I’m not taking a “real” vacation this year, I’ve been trying to savor the short trips I do take.

I really enjoyed the Folk Festival this year—lots of the acts were unfamiliar to me, so I’m really excited now to check out bands like First Aid Kit, Spirit Family Reunion, and Tuneayrds. I have to admit, though, that I loved seeing The Head and the Heart, and Iron & Wine, and though I was in the minority amongst my family members,  I didn’t hate Conor Oberst‘s set at all. While I wouldn’t base any romantic ideals upon the characters in his songs (even as a teenager I knew I was at least supposed to know better), who hasn’t wished they could whine into a microphone about being f***ing sad from time to time? I don’t know—maybe you just had to be young and angsty in the early 2000s?

Anyway, no time for whining this week. I started a new rotation yesterday and it’s been go-go-go since. Still, Wednesday came really fast this week—and so did What I Ate Wednesday. As always, thanks to Jenn for hosting the link party. To see more WIAW from other bloggers, visit Peas & Crayons.

This week’s WIAW installment has nothing to do with August’s “summer staples” theme, but perhaps next week.

Here’s what I ate on Saturday in Newport…

Breakfast: hotel breakfast

egg white omelet with feta, spinach, tomato and red onion

Lunch: Greek salad at the festival—this was too big even for me to polish off, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Snacks: Finally got around to trying Ben & Jerry’s Greek frozen yogurt. I highly approve of the black raspberry dark chocolate chunk flavor. Hardly healthy, but tasty. Later, I had an apple.
Dinner: Some kind of mixed green salad; blacked sea bass w/ swiss chard & lemon gnocchi; a glass of prosecco at the bar and then, later, a glass of red wine with dinner

The next day was much more casual but just as delicious.

What was the best thing you ate recently?
