Things may be crazy all over the east coast thanks to hurricane Sandy, but it’s still What I Ate Wednesday. As always, thanks to Jenn for hosting the weekly link party. To see more WIAW from other bloggers, visit Peas & Crayons.

I hope you guys have all been able to stay safe and dry these past few days. I’ve been lucky to have electricity, but it also means I’ve been showing up at the hospital all week to help out wherever I’m needed.

Tuesday, started early, with a quick shower and breakfast.

recycled photo but same basic thing—oats with pumpkin & plum and topped with PB

I started the day serving breakfast in the cafeteria.  After a few hours I was reassigned to clinical—at first I was going to do infant formula mixing, but then I got assigned to the pediatric patient floors at the last minute. Luckily, I had time to grab a quick snack.

this is the saddest-looking hard-boiled egg ever

Lunch was brought from home. After Monday’s madness, it seemed like the sanest way to go. The sandwich had hummus, non-fat ricotta, eggplant, spinach, roasted pepper, and heirloom tomato. The weird things that come of trying to clean out the fridge…I was really glad that after running around seeing patients I could just go to my locker and grab something I knew would be good rather than braving the crowds as the cafeteria ran out of food again.

I ended up not needing the protein bar, but I was glad to have it just in case

The afternoon flew by. I felt like I was out of breath from going up and down the stairs and from room to room or hunting for a computer to chart at. When I finally got home (after a $25 livery cab right I really hope I can get reimbursed for), I had another quick snack before beginning to take the tape off my windows and clean up my nest

I don’t know why I thought laundry would be a good idea, but I did. Ouch. I guess the best way to get something done is give it to a busy person. I was on a roll or something…dinner eventually happened, another fridge-cleaning experience—aka, a version of the egg-white scrambles I make when I have no idea what else to make.

I don’t know why this photo is sideways. Oh well.

After packing breakfast and lunch for the next day, I took a shower, blow-dried my hair, and ate a sliced apple while reading emails I was way too tired to answer.

Here’s to hoping I get my compensatory day off before working this weekend. Universe, please help me out here!

Have you been affected by Hurricane Sandy?
