After many years hiatus, I made my own nut butter the other day. Chocolate coconut peanut butter to be exact. Recipe coming soon! Nuts are a great source of plant-based protein, plus healthy fats. Walnuts and almonds, especially, are high in anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids. Sadly, I have to stay away from all the awesome ones for allergy reasons, but you should enjoy them so I can live vicariously. chocolate coconut PB

Once upon a time when I was all domesticated and stuff and didn’t know about my allergies, I used to make my own nut butters fairly often. I burned a food processor or two to death in the process, so I need to be careful not to do the same. Apparently, the trick is using roasted nuts? Note to self.

Anyway, after realizing that this is totally a thing I could do on the regular, I spent some time this week looking up some nut butter recipes and tips for future experiments. Here’s some of what I came across:
